Gaussin aims to establish a modern manufacturing plant for hydrogen vehicles “Made in Saudi Arabia”

Aramco sponsors the first hydrogen-powered truck to participate in the Dakar rally, during the January 2022 Dakar rally in Saudi Arabia

DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia & HERICOURT, France, December 06, 2021– (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – ARAMCO, one of the integrated world leaders in energy and chemicals, and GAUSSIN (ALGAU – FR0013495298), pioneer of clean and intelligent transport of goods and people, have initiated a partnership in the field of vehicles hydrogen.

The signing of this agreement took place in the presence of HE Khalid Al Falih, Saudi Minister of Investment and HE Franck Riester, French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, as well as the Chairman and CEO of Aramco, Amin H. Nasser.

Christophe Gaussin, CEO of Gaussin, was personally invited to participate in the delegation of French CEOs accompanying French President Emmanuel Macron during his state visit from December 2-4, 2021 to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The sales delegation included organizations such as Airbus, Ardian, Egis, Air Liquide, Engie, GL events, HSBC and EDF.

The agreement between Aramco and Gaussin aims to establish a modern manufacturing plant for hydrogen vehicles in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As a first step, Gaussin and Aramco will study the feasibility of a manufacturing plant and a hydrogen distribution activity to serve the Middle East region.

The two companies also agreed that Aramco’s new Advanced Innovation Center (LAB7) would be closely associated with Gaussin’s hydrogen vehicle development and the development of a remote-controlled / autonomous hydrogen racing truck. LAB7 aims to integrate Aramco’s composite materials into Gaussin’s existing product line to reduce the weight, energy consumption and cost of these vehicles.

Aramco will also sponsor the world’s first hydrogen-powered racing truck, which was developed by Gaussin and which will take part in the January 2022 Dakar rally in Saudi Arabia – the Gaussin H2 Racing Truck. (see press release of November 9, 2021) which will function as a new energy experimental vehicle. Aramco’s sponsorship of Gaussin’s participation in the Dakar Rally continues to promote developments in low-emission transportation technologies.
