The draw took place in an online ceremony on the 25e April, International Football and Friendship Day. The Young Ambassadors of the project, Ananya Kamboj of India, Yusuf Moazzam of Pakistan, Sheqayli Ascencion of Aruba and Alinur Gabidenuiy from Kazakhstan, attracted the 32 international friendship teams. The teams were organized into eight groups in total, each group consisting of four teams. Each of the teams is named after a rare animal species. The eF4F takes place on the multiplayer simulator “Football for Friendship World” (F4F World), specially developed for F4F, but available for free on MS Windows, Apple macOS, Android, iOS. Each team is made up of six players and a match lasts two halves of 3.5 minutes each. Football academies around the world can nominate boys and girls ages 12-14 as players up to 1st May.
The preliminary rounds of the eF4F 2021 tournament will take place on the 27e and 28e May. The final will be played on the 29the May. On the same day, F4F National Ambassadors will meet for the National Ambassadors Forum in Istanbul on the occasion of the UEFA Champions League final. At the forum, they will discuss the development of children’s football.
