Gas companies to streamline supply to fertilizer industry

Prime Minister’s Finance and Revenue Advisor Shaukat Tarin on Friday expressed satisfaction with the availability of urea and called on gas companies to rationalize gas supplies to fertilizer units for production in candy.

Chairing a meeting on fertilizers at the Finance Division, the Minister also called on all stakeholders to reach consensus on issues related to sales tax rebate and expedited infrastructure development tax payments. gas (GIDC).

Earlier, the secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Production informed the meeting about the situation of demand and supply of fertilizers in the country.

The secretary said supplying gas to urea plants based on Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) would ensure an additional 300,000 MT of production through January 2022.

The government is firmly committed to ensuring maximum gas supply to all fertilizer units, including Pak Arab Fertilizer Limited and Fuji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limted (FFBL), he said, adding that the appeal offers for the import of 100,000 tons of urea had also been published.

Among others, the meeting was attended by the Minister of National Food Security and Research, Syed Fakhar Imam; Minister of Energy, Hammad Azhar; Industry and Petroleum Secretaries, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and other senior officials.
