A TEMPORARY road closure and traffic diversion located on Persiaran Kerjaya in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, was carried out to facilitate the replacement works of the Gas Malaysia Distribution Sdn Bhd (GMD) pipeline.
The wholly-owned subsidiary of Gas Malaysia Bhd said in a statement that the work consisted of replacing a section of the pipeline that had previously been damaged due to construction activities carried out by a third party.
âThe gas leak from the damaged pipeline was contained earlier and is under control, and customers have not experienced any gas supply disruptions.
âThe pipeline is vital for providing safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to various industrial, commercial and residential customers in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur,â he said.
He added that the situation is under control and that security should not be compromised in any way.
âWe are working closely with the relevant authorities and will provide updated information. We regret any inconvenience caused, âhe said.
It was earlier reported that the Energy Commission (ST) had received preliminary reports that the gas leak at the Light Rail Transit 3 construction site in Shah Alam was related to construction work on site.
The ST noted that the actual cause of the leak could only be determined after investigations are complete and they plan to cooperate with all parties to ensure the safety of residents in the area.
âInvestigations are underway to identify the actual cause after being informed of the incident on April 13 and that GMD, as the licensee, is responsible for taking immediate action to rectify the situation.
“Repair work is underway and ST has been informed that there have been no injuries or interruption of gas supply to customers as a result of the incident,” he said. Sunday in a statement.
