Ukraine ready to transport twice as much gas as Russia …

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The annual capacity of the Ukrainian gas transit system is 146 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which allows Ukraine to transport almost twice as much gas as the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream pipelines 2 combined because they can only pump 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year, according to Sergiy Makogon, general manager of the operator of the gas transport network of Ukraine (GTSOU).

“Transit is an element of energy and military security not only for Ukraine but also for the whole of Europe. The Ukrainian GTS is reliable and safe, and we are ready to provide additional gas pumping capacity that exceeds that of Nord Stream 2. This means that we can meet the current needs of Europe with the capacities available in Ukraine, without Russian gas pipeline ”, said the press service of GTSOU, quoting the press service of GTSOU.

According to him, Ukraine has so far never let down European consumers and gas supplies have never been interrupted due to the fault of the Ukrainian side.

Makogon recalled that the Ukrainian gas transport operator operates in accordance with the standards of the third EU energy package, respecting the principles of energy solidarity.

Russian gas monopoly Gazprom announced on September 10 the completion of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. It was built from Russia to Germany bypassing Ukraine at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Gazprom is the sole shareholder of the project.

At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelensky set up a working group to develop proposals to minimize threats from the construction of gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine.
